Spitfire Makers in Eastleigh
Chair of the Spitfire Makers, Alan Matlock, has been invited back to talk to the Eastleigh & District Local History Society. His last visit was in February 2022 when no Spitfire Makers plaques had been unveiled and there were still hopes of saving the Supermarine Flight Shed from demolition.
Alan will bring an update on each of the ELEVEN blue plaques that have now been unveiled and the latest news of plans for another dozen.
New material on the history of Cunliffe Owen Aircraft Ltd. (location of the eleventh plaque) will be shared and a tribute to a local Spitfire Maker, Supermarine parts inspector May Morris, who passed away last month having recently celebrated her 107th birthday.
