Remembering the 82nd anniversary of the bombing of the Supermarine Works in Woolston.

Another possible Supermarine subcontractor was suggested by a visitor to our Heritage Open Day last weekend. Any info…much appreciated.
The premises started as St Faith’s Mission Church in Ancaster Road, off Bevois Valley Road in Southampton but by the early 1920s was home to the Bevois Engineering Valley Engineering & Motors Ltd. Their 1930s advert suggests they had the in-house skills which could be useful in aeronautical construction.
The road name changed to the Ancasta Road it is today and the building, shown here from Google Maps, which is locally listed by Southampton City Council, is once again a meeting place for church groups.
